I just read this article about some Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, students that designed clothes for US Veterans who were disabled and experienced daily difficulty when dressing up:
Makes me think, fashion should not only be responsible but also solve problems.
As a Designer, should my job be just to make you look good in my clothes or extend to solving problems, at least physical ones; maybe design around disabilities, surgeries (like mastectomies), disproportionate body types, etc? The solutions would be physical but surely the ramifications would extend to the psychological; including more people in the group of people that feel good in my clothing?
What do you think?
